The sunset/sunrise views from the deck are simply breathtaking. We spent much of our time either fishing on the dock, tubing in the lake or just sitting by the fire. Inside the home you will find three ample bedrooms with comfortable beds, plenty of linens and a well appointed kitchen with everything you need to prepare and enjoy family meals. Jacci, the owner, is a wonderful hostess and extremely generous. She met us on arrival, gave us a tour of the house and took time to tell us about the local restaurants, shops and activities in the area. Our family of five had a lovely time and we look forward to staying there again!

Aug 16, 2017 Now, THIS is One HECK of a Deck! 1971 Lake Rd, Date of Stay Jul 30, 2017 My wife and I stayed for three nights at this property. Obviously, the lake was beautiful to wake up to and sit by throughout the day, but what set it apart was the versatility of such a cozy place. Between the top deck, bottom deck, bonfire area, and the dock, there were plenty of places to relax and unwind, either in the shade or the sun. The same could be said about inside the house; if memory serves, there were three distinct bedrooms and a spacious living area. No matter what your pleasure is, it would be hard to be bored at Heck of a Deck.Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.

With a two-year old in tow, the fully enclosed deck was a safe place to play that didn't require hovering and that, covered, provided good sun protection for our daughter while still letting her be outside much of the day. The ability to walk to the state park playground .2 mile away) was great and this outing became part of our daily routine. The older kids enjoyed the swimming area and while this house doesn't have any boats or kayaks, we were able to rent one and have it delivered. The kitchen is fully equipped. The only appliance we missed was a toaster oven (there is a regular toaster) but seriously it had most of the comforts of home. Jacci and Virgil have gone out of there way to create a place for relaxing and entertaining (there is a ton of outside seating and great common space ... and there are more wine glasses than water glasses). The nearby village of Aurora has a couple of restaurants and the kids loved the free movie night. The library has no security gates and boasts two librarians who seem to know every local by name. Jacci and Virgil were present and responsive online but I saw Virgil just once after our arrival, when he came to take the trash out. Really a lovely place with lovely hosts.

Aug 18, 2017 Gorgeous lake house and awesome hospitality!1971 Lake Rd, Aurora, NY, 13026, United States Date of Stay May 24, 2017 Helpful votes: 0/0My husband and three older children stayed at this well-appointed and cozy lakehouse for 4 days while attending our son's graduate school graduation and couldn't have been more happy with the friendly meet-n-greet by the owners, the well designed interior decor, and of course that great deck overlooking the lake! We loved the location as well as we could easily get to wineries, Ithaca, boat rentals, and great dining. Before, during, and even after our stay the owners went out of their way to assist us with any questions, dining and recreation recommendations, etc. to ensure that we had a wonderful stay. Having properties that we rent out ourselves I have high expectations, and heck-of-a-deck blew it out of the park! Thank you.

The hosts have made improvements to the home since the pictures were taken so the house was better than we expected, which was nice. The deck is an amazing place to sit and enjoy the lake and there is a dock for access to the water or to moor a boat. We also enjoyed the small waterfront area for viewing sunsets and cooking s'mores by the firepit. The house is located in a beautiful area and close to Aurora and wineries. We were very pleased with our stay!
